Ultra Violet Light
Ultra Violet light is a higher frequency wave with a wavelength of about 100nm, a thousandth of a millimeter.
It is used in security tagging, reflective dyes and invisible ink. Invisible ink is made of a substance that glows under UV light. It absorbs the energy from the UV and emits visible light. In the deepest parts of the ocean, where visible light cannot reach, some creatures exhibit fluorescence or glow in the dark properties. Have a look at the video below. UV light can be dangerous. Too much exposure can lead to sun burn and skin cancer. We can wear sun cream to protect ourselves from UV. |
