The Electromagnetic Spectrum
The electromagnetic spectrum is a collection of transverse waves that all travel at the speed of light, 300 000 000 m/s, in a vacuum.
There are made up of changing electric and magnetic fields oscillating perpendicular, or at right angles, to each other. In the animation below the electric field is in red and the magnetic field in blue. We have divided them up into seven bands with similar properties. |
